A three-day skill development training programme for former NDFB cadres kick-started in Chirang district of Assam on Monday.
The training programme, being held at Dhaligaon in the Refinery Club cum Community Centre of Bongaigaon Oil Refinary, is jointly organised by the State Institute of Panchayat and Rural Development (SIPRD), Assam Police (SB) and Home Department.
The three-day skill development programme has been initiated to impart training to former NDFB cadres so that they could properly utilize the financial aid to be given to them by the government.
In the programme, Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) Hiren Chandra Nath, SIPRD Director K Pegu, Chirang Superintendent of Police (SP) Gaurav Upadhyay and Addl SP Prakash Medhi addressed them about various self-employment opportunities.
ADGP Hiren Chandra Nath said that with an aim of implementing clause 9.2 of the Bodo Peace Accord, the Assam Government had given responsibilities to Assam Police and SIPRD to impart proper skill development training to all the former NDFB cadres.

Further, he said that the Skill development training programme has been organized with the aim of imparting training to more than 361 former NDFB cadres in Chirang district.
“In the coming days, we have decided to organize such skill development training programme for former NDFB cadres at Baksa, Udalguri, Sanitpur and Biswanath districts,” he added.
