In order to prevent the entry of extremists, terrorist elements and foreign nationals, the administration has imposed section 144 along the Indo- Bangladesh international border in Assam’s Dhubri district.

Dhubri District Magistrate vide office order has imposed the restrictions on the movement of members of the public and vehicles as well within 500 Meters belt of Indo-Bangladesh border areas of Dhubri District during the night hours starting from 8 pm to 5 pm of the next day.

The prohibitory order signed by Dhubri district Magistrate Deba Kumar Kalita further said that during the restrictions hours, the transaction of business at the Hats/Bazara/shops also prohibited in the night hours from 9 pm to 5 pm next day besides grazing of cattle with 300 meters of Indo Bangladesh border.

However, this order shall not apply to the law-enforcing authorities such as Magistrates, Police personnel, Home Guards, Forest & Customs Officials, BSF personnel, vehicles using National Highway-31 and Railway employees engaged in track patrolling duty.

Further, this order shall also not be applied for patients with a maximum of three attendants, who need to move through the prohibited area for immediate medical treatment for life-saving purposes.

Meanwhile, in another order, the district administration has also directed to wear a face mask in public places and maintaining social distancing norms with immediate effect in view of the spike in Covid-19 cases.
