Clearing the air, the executive committee meeting of All Assam Students’ Union (AASU) on Sunday decided that Samujjal Kumar Bhattacharya will remain with the student body as their chief adviser.

The decision was taken at the executive committee meeting of AASU at the headquarters of the student body in Gauhati University premises.

Besides Bhattacharya, the executive committee of the AASU appointed Uddipta Jyoti Gogoi and Prakash Chandra Das as its two other advisers.

The AASU leadership recently told the media that Bhattacharya, who quit the student body during its last conference at Duliajan, cannot make any official statement on behalf of the students’ union.

The stand of the AASU regarding Bhattacharya, announced by newly-appointed general secretary Shankarjyoti Barua at Prashanta Lodge in Tezpur in January, raised many questions.
