Assam on Thursday reported 4,936 new COVID-19 cases, which pushed the state’s coronavirus tally to 2, 77,687.
The state also reported 46 COVID-19 fatalities pushing the coronavirus death toll in Assam to 1,531.
The Kamrup (Metro) district reported the highest number of cases with 1,353 cases on Thursday.

The number of active COVID-19 cases in the state is currently 34,851.
The new cases were detected out of 61,377 tests conducted with the daily recovery rate at 87.50 per cent.
On Wednesday Assam reported 55 COVID-19 fatalities, the highest single-day deaths in the state so far.
Following the rapid surge in COVID-19 cases, the Assam government has declared containment zones in some areas of Guwahati city.
All activities, including the movement of persons, except for some permitted activities are suspended in the said areas until further notice.
