Although the COVID-19 situation in Assam has improved considerably in recent days, the daily positivity rate of the State continues to hover at over 2 percent. 

Assam on Tuesday reported 3415 new COVID-19 cases. 

These new cases have been detected at a positivity rate of 2.57 percent.

These new cases were detected after carrying out tests of 1,32,929 samples. 

Of the new cases detected in Assam, 204 cases have been reported from Kamrup-Metro district. 

The State logged 34 more COVID-19 deaths in the last 24 hours.

Meanwhile, the COVID-19 recovery rate of Assam currently stands at 90.31 percent. 

The Assam government on Tuesday extended the curfew in the state till June 22 to prevent further spread of the Covid-19.

In Guwahati, the curfew has been relaxed by one hour. The curfew will remain in force in Guwahati from 2 pm to 5 am every day till June 22.

All shops, commercial establishments, restaurants, dhabas, government and private offices in Guwahati will shut down by 1 pm on all days.

Earlier, all shops and commercial establishments are being shut down at 12 am on all days.

“Except in eight districts and in Guwahati, there will be a total ban on movement of individuals from 1 pm to 5 am daily in the state,” health minister Keshab Mahanta told reporters.

The inter-district travel in the state will remain suspended till June 22.
