Raas festival in Lakhimpur

The two-day-long Raas festival was organized across Assam’s Lakhimpur district since Thursday evening.

Raas festival or Raas Leela is a cultural festival of Assam where the life of Lord Krishna and His many wonders are performed on stage in various forms of play and acts.

In different places of the Lakhimpur district, the Raas festival was organized with great enthusiasm.

In Bihpuria, the Raas festival was organized at Badati-Jamuguri where young artistes performed.

An all-women Rass performance was organized at Lohit Dikrong HS School playground on Friday in Bihpuria.

In Narayanpur, the Raas was organized at Nabapur, Tatibahar, Jugalpur and Sri Sri Badala Padma Ata Satra.

The Raas included Kanshalaya, Nandalaya, Gosthalila along with Maharaas.

At Tinatiya in Narayanpur, the Raas festival was organized under the leadership of a Muslim person named Mukhtar Ali, who is the secretary of the organizing committee.

At Dhalpur-Simuluguri, the Raas festival has been organized for the last 82 years.

Artistes belonging to ethnic Mising, Bodo and Christian communities also performed in various roles in that Raas.

The festival of Raas was also organized for two days in other places of Lakhimpur district like Sandahkhowa, Panigaon, Azad, Nowboicha, Laluk, Nakari in North Lakhimpur and Dhakuakhana.
