An Assam Police officer was caught red-handed by the sleuths of Directorate of Vigilance & Anti-Corruption (DVAC), Assam while taking bribe on Wednesday.

The corrupt Assam Police has been identified as Sudhanya Bhattacharjee, who has been serving as a sub-inspector at Hailakandi police station.

The news has been confirmed by GP Singh, Special DGP (Law & Order), Director V&AC & Chief Anti-Rhino Poaching Task Force, Assam.

IPS officer Singh in a tweet on Wednesday said sub-inspector Sudhanya Bhattacharjee was caught while he was while accepting a bribe of Rs 5,000 today from a complainant inside Hailakandi police station.

A team of Directorate of Vigilance & Anti-Corruption (DVAC), Assam carried out the operation on the basis of a complaint and caught the police sub-inspector red-handed.

“SI(UB) Sudhanya Bhattacharjee, of Hailakandi PS was caught red handed by @DIR_VAC_ASSAM while accepting bribe of INR 5000 today (Nov 17th) from the complainant inside Hailakandi PS,” Special DGP GP Singh tweeted.

The incident has brought to light the allegations that many corrupt police officers take bribes from common people, who approach them for some works.
