GUWAHATI: In a significant turn of events, police in Guwahati city of Assam have arrested a person named Hamidul Islam following allegations of “love jihad” and financial fraud.
The arrest follows a complaint filed by a young woman, accusing Hamidul of various offenses.
According to reports, Hamidul is accused of entering into a romantic relationship with the young woman under false pretences, presenting himself as a Hindu youth.
Exploiting this fraudulent identity, he allegedly deceived the woman into parting with a substantial sum of Rs 12 lakh through deceitful means.

Moreover, it is alleged that Hamidul engaged in a physical relationship with the young woman, allegedly coercing her into undergoing multiple abortions against her wishes, amounting to a total of five instances.
Hamidul Islam’s arrest occurred in the Christian Basti area of Guwahati city in Assam subsequent to the filing of a police complaint by the aggrieved young woman.
The Assam police have acted promptly in response to the grave allegations against Hamidul.
