The forest personnel have nabbed a poacher, involved in killing a deer in Orang National Park and recovered meats of the deer from his possession.

There were four poachers involved in the killing of the deer.

The arrested poacher has been identified as 45-year-old Nizamuddin Ahmed, (45), a resident of Bogoribari village under Shyampur police station in Darrang district.

A case has been registered against the accused under the Wildlife Protection Act.

He was produced before the court which remanded him to the judicial custody.

Question has been raised about how the poacher could kill the deer despite the regular vigilance of the forest guards.

Due to the high demand of its flesh, the deer in the Orang National Park fall prey to the poachers.

According to sources, a deer was killed in the Orang National Park on Tuesday.

The forest guards failed to prevent the killing, however, managed to nab one of the four poachers inside the national park red-handed when they were distributing the meat of the deer among themselves.

The tail and some amount of meats of the full-grown deer were also recovered from the spot.

Search operation is on to nab the other three absconding poachers, sources added.
