People in Assam’s Lakhimpur paid rich tributes to the ashes of former Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi.

People thronged Tayagkshetra in North Lakhimpur on Friday to pay their last respects to the departed soul of the three-time former Assam Chief Minister.

The tribute paying ceremony was organised by the Lakhimpur District Congress Committee.

The ashes of Tarun Gogoi reached Lakhimpur on Friday in a motorcade led by his son and Lok Sabha MP Gaurav Gogoi.

Top Congress leaders including former Assam Minister Rockybul Hussain, former MP Ranee Narah and former MLA Ghana Buragohain also accompanied Tarun Gogoi’s ashes to Lakhimpur.

Earlier in the day, people in Narayanpur too paid their respects to the ashes of former Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi.

The ashes of the former Assam Chief Minister were kept at the Jyoti Sangam Auditorium in Narayanpur where people paid their tributes.

“I urge the people of Assam to take up the work culture espoused by my father,” said a grieving Gaurav Gogoi.
