A Panchayat Mela is being organized in Hojai to sensitize the public on the achievements of the BJP state government and its welfare activities.

The Panchayat Mela that began on Saturday will continue till February 9.

The Ashwini Welfare Society in collaboration with various panchayats within the Hojai district has organized the mela that is the first of its kind to be held in Assam.

The mela also highlights the developmental plans of the BJP state government and different social evils and their probable solutions.

“Assam chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal is expected to grace the occasion on the last day of the event and we may also extend the Mela by a few days,” said Ajit Sarkar(Prabhu), president, of the Aswini Welfare Society.

The organizers took out a colourful procession from the Bihutholi Playground on Saturday, where twenty-five gaon panchayats within the Dhalphukhuri and Jugijaan development block of Hojai legislative assembly constituency participated.

The Panchayat Mela also will also include talk sessions on various issues, competitions and different cultural programmes by different communities of the state.

Tableus depicting various themes will also be displayed during the Mela.

Hojai MLA Shiladitya Dev, BJP Hojai district president Anup Kumar Deb and Zila Parishad president Ramabala Devi were also present on the occasion.
