Assam forest and environment minister Parimal Suklabaidya on Saturday reopened the Orang National Park and Tiger Reserve for the tourist season 2019-20.
The Orang National Park and Tiger Reserve in Darrang district is the natural habitat of more than 100 one-horned rhino and around 24 Royal Bengal tigers besides wide range of flora and fauna.
The function was also attended by Mangaldai Lok Sabha MP Dilip Saikia and Mangaldai MLA Gurujyoti Das apart from officials and staff of the Forest Department, students and other local people.
Talking to the media Suklabaidya stressed on the development of the flood hit road communications inside the Park to woo the visitors.
He also announced the target of the domestic and foreign tourists to the Park in the new tourism year to be 10,000.
However, on the inaugural day the media could spot a single tourist.
Earlier the Park authorities in a notification announced November 1 next as the date for reopening of the Park.
