The Commissionerate of Excise, Government of Assam, is not issuing any licence for retail IMFL ‘OFF’ shops in Sonitpur district of Assam.
This was clarified Sonitpur additional deputy commissioner Kulen Sarma in a press meet in Tezpur on Friday.
Superintendent of Excise, Sonitpur, Tezpur, Bedanga Bhushan Saikia said that it has come to the notice of the government that certain fraudulent elements were collecting money from the public on the pretext of issuing IMFL ‘OFF’ retail shop licence, which is completely false and baseless.
The Excise department has not issued any such orders, he clarified.
ADC Kulen Sarma requested the media persons present to give wide publicity about the same in order to create awareness so that innocent people are not cheated.
He also appealed to the people to bring any such cases to the notice of the Superintendent of Excise and if anyone is found guilty appropriate legal action will be initiated against them.
