Dignitaries and students of Lachit Diwas celebration at NLUJAA

Think India Assam in association with National Law University and Judicial Academy, Assam (NLUJAA) celebrated Lachit Diwas on Sunday commemorating the heroism of Ahom general Lachit Borphukan.

NLUJAA vice-chancellor JS Patil welcomed the guests and spoke about Lachit and the Battle of Saraighat fought in 1671 against the Mughals.

He further spoke about his mission to make NLUJAA a leading law university across the country and asked the Assam government and the Gauhati High Court for their constant support.

State irrigation minister Bhabesh Kalita, who was the chief guest for the day, commended NLUJAA in bringing students from across the country and letting them know about the heroes of Assam.

Kalita also appreciated the enthusiasm of students who attended the daylong celebration.

Additional advocate general Dilip Mozumder highlighted the relevance of Lachit Borphukan in the students’ lives.

Apart from various cultural programmes, NLUJAA also hosted the Lachit Borphukan Memorial Debate where students from various colleges and universities from across Assam participated.
