Militant outfit Dimasa National Liberation Army (DNLA) has called for a 36-hour Dima Hasao bandh from 5 am on January 24, 2021.

The bandh has been called by the outfit to commemorate the death anniversary of two youths, who were killed during police firing on agitators who protested against proposed ‘Nagalim’ at Maibang railway station on January 25, 2018.

DNLA has called for the bandh to mark the day as ‘Dimasa Martyrs Day’.

The militant organization announced the bandh in a press statement.

On January 25, 2018, Prabanta Hakmaosa and Mithun Dibragede lost their lives in police firing at Maibang railway station.

They were protesting against a move, as reported in the media, to include parts of Dima Hasao district in the proposed territory of Greater Nagalim as per the Naga Framework Agreement signed between the Centre and NSCN (I-M).

It was reported in some media that an agreement was signed between NDA government and NSCN (IM) to establish a satellite council /special development authority within Dima Hasao district of Assam.
