The Assam government has reportedly planned to conduct the recruitment test of AB/UB constables of Assam Police afresh.

The recruitment was suspended on October 9 following the alleged anomalies in the process.

The State Level Police Recruitment Board (SLPRB) headed by the DGP has sought the State government’s nod to hold the recruitment afresh, The Assam Tribune reported.

The Physical Standard Test/Physical Efficiency Test for AB/UB constables had begun in September-end and was to continue for over a month at various battalion campuses.

The investigators probing the criminal cases related to leakage of the question paper of the SI (UB) examination had revealed that during the course of the investigation, the names of some individuals connected to the consortium conducting the two other examinations have come to notice.

The SLPRB then decided to disengage the consortium from all ongoing processes of recruitment examinations.

The Physical Standard Test/Physical Efficiency Test for AB/UB constable of Assam Police and Digital Viva Interview for the Special Recruitment Drive for PwD were suspended immediately.

Meanwhile, citing “administrative reasons”, Assam Police has also withdrawn an advertisement seeking proposals for empanelment of professional agencies for executing its “Transparent Recruitment Policy” in connection with recruitment for various posts in Assam Police and other departments.

The sources said the State Level Police Recruitment Board will no longer handle recruitment of other departments.

The Assam government has decided not to engage private agencies in the recruitment exercises.

Instead, the exercises will be done by the administrative department with the help from different State universities.
