Kendriya Vidyalaya, Mangaldai in Darrang district of Assam has been declared a containment zone. 

The school has been declared a containment zone following detection of several cases among teachers of the school. 

As many as five teachers of the Kendriya Vidyalaya, Mangaldai in Darrang district of Assam has tested positive for COVID-19. 

Darrang deputy commissioner – Pranab Kumar Sarmah has ordered closure of the school to check spread the virus among students and staff of the institution.

“I have ordered suspension of the physical classes in the school for a week beginning from Monday as five teachers of the school have been infected with the Covid virus,” said Darrang DC Pranab Kumar Sarmah while speaking to Northeast Now. 

Among the five teachers who tested COVID positive, three are male while two are female. 

All the five teachers had arrived in Mangaldai a couple of days back from their home states like Uttar Pradesh and Bihar after winter vacation. 

One of the close relatives of an infected female teacher also tested COVID positive.

Meanwhile, 28 fresh COVID positive cases including two children and one staff of Bahagorha Game Shark Kunwari Janajati HS school and nine more persons in the 210 Cobra battalion camp in Dalgaon have been detected with the virus. 

The cumulative figure of positive cases in the district has crossed 10,000 mark.
