The Karbi Students Association (KSA) has suspended the indefinite economic blockade against Nagaland after being assured of a meeting with Assam chief minister, Sarbananda Sonowal on the issue.
The blockade was launched to protest against the illegal encroachment in the Daldali Reserve Forest in Assam’s Karbi Anglong district by Naga miscreants.
The blockade was suspended on Friday.
KSA president, Simeon Rongphar said, “We have been informed and assured by the superintendent of police that the status quo will be maintained by both Nagaland or Karbi Anglong.”

“The district administration has also assured us that a discussion will be held on the erection of border pillar and eviction of the Indian Reserve Battalion camp,” he said.
A meeting between the chief minister and the students’ organization is likely to take place within four days.
The student leader said that the economic blockade will resume if their demands are left unmet.
A meeting between KSA and the Dimapur Naga Students Union was also held at Khatkhati recently, during which both sides discussed several issues, including the long-standing border problem.
The student organizations have urged the Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council and the Assam and Nagaland governments to solve the issue.
