The reputed Jorhat Engineering College (JEC) in Assam is ‘severely’ short-staffed.
This was stated by JEC Principal – Rita Sharma during a meeting with Assam Principal Secretary (Education) – B Kalyan Chakravarthy in Jorhat, Assam on Sunday.
“Out of the 102 sanctioned posts only 47 are filled,” Rita Sharma said.
Chakravarthy said that he would apprise the government regarding shortage of staff at the JEC.
A meeting between Assam Principal Secretary (Education) – B Kalyan Chakravarthy and heads of different reputed institutes of Jorhat was held on Sunday.

The meeting was held to discuss ways to improve the education scenario in Jorhat district of Assam.
Assam Agricultural University (AAU) vice chancellor suggested that schools could impart education on agriculture so that students get attracted towards farming.
He said that children from a young age should be taught to plant saplings.
Among others who attended the meeting were JB College Principal – Bimal Barah and National Institute of Design director – Ravi Shankar.
