The Red Horns Division of the Indian Army, based at Panbari camp in Lower Assam’s Dhubri district, on Sunday distributed a total 50 bicycles among the working women of Dhubri and Kokrajhar districts (25 bicycles each).
The bicycles were distributed under the Operation Sadbhavana.
The aim of the project was to empower the working women of Dhubri and Kokrajhar districts and mitigate their hardships,said an Indian Army official.
Speaking on this occasion, Saiyada Begum, a beneficiary of Dhubri district, expressed her happiness and gratitude to the Indian Army and the district administration.
She said now she will be able to reach her workplace independently and complete all her household works.
The event, held at the Panbari-based Army camp, was attended by 150 local people along with district officials of both the districts.

On this occasion, the Dhubri Sub-Divisional Officer (Sadar) Darshana Chetia and Devajyoti Gogoi, circle officer of Bagribari in Kokrajhar district as well as Gaon Burahs (village heads) of Ramsarovar village, Dolgaon village, Alamgang village and Panbari village respectively were present.

As part of the Operation Sadbhavna, this initiative of the Indian Army for the welfare and well-being of the locals was highly appreciated by the locals.
It is expected that the initiative will play a vital role in strengthening the bond between the soldiers and the local populace.
