After four days of great display of passion and grit, winners from Assam received 10 gold and 4 silver medals making it to the runners-up state in Eastern Zone India Skills 2021 Regional Competition.

Overall, 98 candidates from 8 states/union territories were declared winners in the competition and Bihar Governor Phagu Chauhan felicitated the winners at Bapu Sabhaghar in Patna and awarded each of them a cash prize of Rs 21,000 along with a gold medal.

The first runners-up were given Rs 11,000 and a silver medal.

Among these, 50 candidates won gold medals while 48 received silver medals.

From Assam, Pritisha Barman won a gold medal in Beauty Therapy, Gaurab Dutta won a gold medal in CNC Millling, Hargobinda Kalita won a gold medal in CNC Milling, Amon Baroi won a gold medal in Electrical installation and Dwaipayan Chakraborty won a gold medal in Graphic Design Technology.

Assam’s Gitanjali Boro won a gold medal in Hairdressing, Akriti Sharma won a gold medal in Health and Social care, Waqar Younus won a gold medal in Hotel Reception, Sushma Roy won a gold medal in Restaurant Service and Bikram Sarania won a gold medal in welding.

Krishnamoni Gogoi won a silver medal in Electrical installation, Vivek Kashyap Barman won a silver medal in Graphic Design Technology, Pallab Parasar Deka won a silver medal in Restaurant Service and Md Abu Tahir won a silver medal in Web Technologies, said a press statement.

Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Assam, Bihar, Jharkhand, Mizoram, Odisha, Tripura, and West Bengal were the participating states and UT in the Eastern competition.

The winners of the regional competitions will compete at the national competition scheduled to be held in December 2021, and the best will enter the World Skills Competition to be held in Shanghai, China in October 2022.

Bihar Governor Phagu Chauhan said, “I am heartened to see the enthusiasm and high spirit displayed by the participants. It was a delight to witness the skills showcased by the participants in the past three days.”

“India Skills is not only a competition but a platform, which enables showing India’s capabilities to the world. I look forward to the skills performance of the winners at the national competition and World Skills as well. I congratulate all the participants and wish the winners luck for the National Competition,” Chauhan added.

More than 240 candidates competed in 42 skills, including cooking, restaurant service, confectionery/pastry cook, beauty therapy, hairdressing, mechanical engineering design (CAD), web design, electronics, IT software solutions, graphic design technology, mobile robotics, among others, from October 20 to 23.

The next regional competition will be held in Gandhinagar (West) followed by Chandigarh (North), and Visakhapatnam (South).

The India Skills National Competition will be conducted in December 2021 at Bengaluru in Karnataka.

Winners of the India Skills National Competition will undergo training to represent India at World Skills Shanghai in October 2022.
