The Assam government has decided to distribute gratuitous relief materials for seven days to the daily wage earners living/stranded in the urban areas.

The daily wage earners have faced tough times due to lockdown imposed by the government to contain coronavirus.

Assam chief secretary Kumar Sanjay Krishna directed the deputy commissioners of the State to issue living in gratuitous relief materials for s even days to the daily wage earners like rickshaw pullers, labourers living/stranded in the urban areas as per the norms of Assam Relief Manuals.

The chief secretary has also directed the Kamrup (M) DC to continue the process of selling vegetables by mobile vans in Guwahati city and increase the area of coverage, if needed.

Earlier on Saturday, the deputy commissioner of Kamrup (Metropolitan) district has arranged selling of vegetables at 66 points of Guwahati city by mobile vans.

The chief secretary further directed that the production units of bread, biscuits, packaged water, rice mill, chirra mill, flour mills will continue production with minimum staff maintaining social distance.
