Assam government has deployed additional forces in 800 sensitive areas following the Apex court’s verdict directing the government to publish the draft NRC on December 31. Police have identified 800 areas mostly in lower Assam. Special DGP Assam Police Kuladhar Saikia on Friday informed that NRC verification officers would get extra layer of security.
He further said that the vulnerable areas were selected on the basis of location, NRC Seva Kendra and paternity links of the families.
Kamrup (Metro) DC M Anganathu said verification of documents will be completed by December 14 midnight.
