GUWAHATI: In a move aimed at enhancing the festive spirit of Bohag Bihu, the Assam government has announced a 4% hike in Dearness Allowance (DA) for its employees.

This decision is expected to bring cheer to approximately 4 lakh government employees and around 3.5 lakh pensioners across the state.

The increase in DA comes as a welcome development, especially during the festive season, when people celebrate the onset of the Assamese New Year with great enthusiasm.

Bohag Bihu, also known as Rongali Bihu, marks the beginning of the agricultural season and is celebrated with vibrant cultural performances, traditional feasts, and colourful festivities.

With this latest hike, the DA of all state government employees has now reached 50%.

The increased allowance will provide some relief to employees and pensioners, helping them cope with rising living costs and improving their overall financial well-being.

Furthermore, this move is expected to stimulate economic activity as the additional income will likely translate into increased spending power among beneficiaries.

As Assam gears up to celebrate Bohag Bihu with renewed vigour and enthusiasm, the announcement of the DA hike adds an extra layer of joy and positivity to the festive season.
