Sensation prevails after a forest guard allegedly committed suicide by shooting himself in Assam’s Kaziranga National Park.

The forest guard was found dead at the Daflang forest camp where he was deployed.

The Daflang forest camp falls under the Bagori forest range under the Kaziranga National Park.

The deceased forest guard has been identified as Prabin Sakia.

He was a resident of Kuthari Baghmari village, adjacent to Kaziranga National Park.

According to the Kaziranga National Park authority, Prabin Saikia committed suicide by shooting himself with his service rifle.

Forest department sources said Prabin Saikia committed suicide as two other forest guards of his camp were busy in other works at the time of the incident.

A case has been registered and the police have started an investigation into it.

The body was recovered from the camp in the morning on Sunday in the presence of the magistrate.

The police have also taken statements of the two other forest guards.
