Five members of a family including two children were killed and three others seriously injured in a road mishap on National Highway 15 in Western Assam’s Goalpara district.
Police said the accident occurred around 9 pm on Thursday night at Bolbola Godhabori under Agia police station in Goalpara district.
The incident happened when an Eon car that was heading towards Goalpara collided head-on with a Swift Dzire.
Police said the front sides of both vehicles were completely damaged following the incident.
Three people died on the spot and five others, including two children who were critically injured, were immediately admitted to Goalpara civil hospital.
But two children succumbed to their injuries at the hospital.
The deceased persons were identified as Nazma Khatun, Chabura Khatun, Rahim Ali, Juel and Suel
Anwar Ali and Chelima Begum, who were injured in the accident, are undergoing treatment at Goalpara Civil Hospital.
