Floods triggered by heavy rain have thrown life out of gear in Assam’ Dhubri district with over 31729 people being affected by the surging Brahmaputra and its tributaries.
Low-lying areas including Dhubri town are facing inundation following incessant rain and high water level of the Brahamputra and its tributaries over the last couple of days.
So far the floods have affected 252 villages across the district.

The South Salmara revenue circle of district has been mostly affected due to the flood.
The district adminstration sources said over 849 people have so far been taken shelter in seven different relief camps of Dhubri town.
“Over 14000 hectares of cropland are destroyed,” the official said.
South Salmara is the worst hit with over 26,000 people reeling under floodwaters.
The Dhubri District Disaster Managment Authority (DDMA) said nearly 252 villages in eight revenue circles are under water and nearly 1,000 marooned people have put up at seven relief camps.
The first wave of flood has also partially damaged the 21 roads and three bridge across the district.
The Brahamputra is flowing at 29.71 cm in Dhubri on Monday evening.
