Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma

DIBRUGARH: The family of Bhim Rajak, a deceased manager of the Dibrugarh Gymkhana Club, has appealed to Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma to intervene in his mysterious death and assist them in obtaining justice.

Rajak was found hanging in a room of the club on July 17, 2024.

Despite filing a First Information Report (FIR) against several accused individuals at the Dibrugarh police station, the family alleges that no arrests have been made to date.

Bhushan Rajak, the deceased’s brother, claimed that his brother was murdered in a premeditated manner and subjected to mental torture by certain club members.

He demanded justice and sought the Chief Minister’s intervention, drawing a parallel to the Vineet Bagaria case.

“My brother worked as the club’s manager for the past 15 years, treating everyone equally,” Bhushan alleged.

He added, “We suspect foul play as the CCTV cameras were non-functional on the fateful day. We believe he was murdered.”

The FIR named Sanjib Sur, the club president, Sachin Kacharia, and Rajen Lohia as accused individuals.

Bhushan expressed frustration over the lack of arrests, stating, “There seems to be no law for the poor, but we will fight until my brother receives justice.”

The Dibrugarh Gymkhana Club is yet to release a public statement regarding the incident.

Founded in 2004, the club is a registered society dedicated to promoting sports in Dibrugarh.

It offers amenities such as a swimming pool, table tennis, chess, and carrom board. Spread across 16,000 square meters, the club is open to members daily.
