Ahead of the Assam Assembly election 2021, Diphu police in Karbi Anglong district arrested a suspected cadre of Dimasa National Liberation Army (DNLA) and seized a Chinese grenade from his possession.
The police arrested the youth, acting on a tip-off.
The operation was carried by a Diphu police team, led by Karbi Anglong deputy superintendent of police Nahid Karishma.
The arrested youth has been identified as 42-year-old Pinak Sutradhar alias Biju Sutradhar of Diphu Railway Colony.
It is suspected that the grenade was meant to be exploded in Diphu Railway Station.
“We suspect the youth to be a cadre of Dimasa National Liberation Army (DNLA),” police said.
“Further investigation is going on,” police said.
