The Dibrugarh district administration has taken adequate measures to receive the stranded people who are returning on a special train.
The New Delhi-Dibrugarh special train will stop at its final destination Banipur railway station in the district on Thursday.
Altogether 842 passengers will arrive in Banipur railway station.
The Dibrugarh district administration has prepared a screening centre at the railway station and after screening the passengers will be allowed to go to their respective places or districts where they will be quarantined for 14 days.
Assam tea tribe welfare minister Sanjay Kishan and Dibrugarh deputy commissioner Pallav Gopal Jha on Wednesday took stock of the ongoing preparation at Banipur railway station.
The Dibrugarh district administration has prepared quarantine centres at many places for the people coming to the district.
“We are fully prepared for the arrival of the stranded people at Banipur railway station. We will monitor them and their health checkup will be conducted after their arrival,” said a district health official.
Nabojyoti Gogoi, joint director (in-charge) of the health services, Dibrugarh, said, “We have 17 quarantine centres in Dibrugarh district and we are fully prepared to receive those stranded people who are arriving on Thursday at Banipur railway station.”
“Most of the passengers are from other districts and from Arunachal Pradesh. We will have less passengers from Dibrugarh,” he added.
Dibrugarh Police are also getting ready to welcome the stranded people at Banipur railway station.
“We are ready to welcome all passengers stranded during the lockdown at Banipur railway station,” Dibrugarh Police tweeted on Wednesday.
