COVID19 has infected 30 more people in Dhubri including the district’s superintendent of police, Anand Mishra.

The detection of the new cases has been confirmed during Rapid Antigen Test on Wednesday.

The news of the Dhubri Police chief testing positive for COVID19 has been confirmed by the district health officials on Wednesday.

“The report of the SP, who underwent Rapid Antigen Test today, has come out positive for COVID19,” said a health official.

The doctors have advised the Dhubri SP to remain in house isolation.

Mishra, who recently took charge as the Dhubri SP, was honoured with the Chief Minister’s Medal for Outstanding Service 2020.

Dhubri so far has registered a total of 2,164 COVID19 positive cases with 5 deaths.

On Tuesday, two additional deputy commissioners (ADCs) of Kokrajhar district also tested positive for COVID19.

Following the detection of COVID19 positive cases, the office complex of the Kokrajhar deputy commissioner has been declared a containment zone.

The infected ADCs are Bhaskar Das and Debeshwar Bora.

According to sources, Bhaskar Das is currently undergoing treatment at Gauhati Medical College Hospital (GMCH).

Kokrajhar reported 34 new positive cases on Tuesday including the two ADCs.

Till Tuesday, Kokrajhar registered a total of 1,141 COVID19 positive cases.

Meanwhile, 39 more patients were discharged in Kokrajhar district after they tested negative for the virus, taking the total count of recovery to 845.

The deadly disease has so far claimed the lives of 6 persons in the district.

A total of 40 infected patients have been referred to other hospitals for better treatment.
