Dhubri Police arrested four persons and seized a rhino horn from their possession during an operation.

A team of Dhubri Police, led by additional superintendent of police Hiranya Barman, conducted an operation recently on the basis of secret inputs.

The police team conducted a raid in the house of Nur Md. Sk at Bhangarapar, Jhagrarpar Pt-IV area under Dhubri Sadar police station.

Following the raid, police arrested four persons on charges of their involvement in trading a rhino horn.

The police arrested Nur Md. Sk in connection with the case.

The other three arrested persons have been identified as Azaharul Islam, Jiaul Hoque, both are residents of Jhagrarpar area under Dhubri police station and Raju Sarkar, a resident of ward No: 4 under Gauripur police station.

Police recovered a rhino horn weighing about 2 kg from the possession of the arrested persons.

Police said the four persons were arrested when they were preparing to sell the rhino horn.

In this connection, Dhubri Police have registered a case bearing No 111/2021 under Section 379 (Punishment for theft) of IPC Read With section 51 (1) of Wild Life Protection Act 1972 and started further investigation into the matter.
