Dhubri Police arrested three persons including a woman in the last 24 hours in separate cases.

A woman was arrested by after 5 kg of ganja was found in her possession at Beparipatty under the Gauripur police station area in Dhubri district, police said.

The arrested woman has been identified as Kanti Rajbhar.

“A woman, identified as Kanti Rajbhar was arrested by the district police after a consignment of cannabis was found in her possession,” Dhubri superintendent of police, Ananda Mishra said.

In another case, one bike-lifter, identified as Nur Islam was caught at Alamganj Bazar under Gauripur police station.

The Dhubri Police arrested a thief, identified as Papu Chaudhary, after he was caught red-handed by locals while he was attempting to lift a battery from an e-rickshaw at Gauripur.

“All the three persons have been booked under the relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act as well as other relevent sections of IPC and sent to the jail,” said police.

Dhubri Police thanked the locals for remaining alert and preventing crime.

“Public alertness is one of the prerequisites for efficient and accountable administration,” said police.
