The Dhubri district administration in Assam has ordered mandatory Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) for owners of shops and other commercial establishments along with their staff.
The step has been initiated as a precautionary measure to contain the spread of COVID-19 virus in Dhubri district.
“The situation of Covid-19 in the district has been reviewed and observed that, though the number of Covid-19 patients and positivity rate is declining, the situation is still precarious, for which adequate containment measures are still necessary for containment of Covid-19 across the district,” an order from the Dhubri district administration read.
“The positivity rate and percentage of infection can be detected only by mass testing through Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) in the notified testing centres of the district. It is felt necessary to ascertain the containment measures in the market areas,” the order further read.
The order was issued by Dhubri Deputy Commissioner Anbaruthan MP “in exercise the power conferred under Section 34 of the Assam Covid-19 Containment Regulations-2020?.

“All, Shop Owners/ Owners of Commercial establishments and their staff shall undergo
Rapid Antigen Test in any notified RAT Centres of Dhubri district as per their convenience within 3(three) days without fail,” the order added.
The Executive Magistrates of the Task Force already notified and the Deputy Director, FCS & CA, Dhubri and his field Officers will make random visit to the Commercial establishment of market areas and ensure adherence of the above order by all concerned, the order stated.
