Dhubri deputy commissioner Anbamuthan MP has visited the erosion affected area at Motichar village in the district in Assam to take stock of the overall situation.
The executive engineer of the state water resource department had informed the deputy commissioner that heavy erosion is underway at Motichar and posing threat to the Dhubri-Patamari road cum embankment due to construction of the approach road.

The approach road was constructed by the L&T Construction Company, which is engaged in constructing India’s longest road bridge between Assam’s Dhubri and Fulbari of Meghalaya over the Brahamputra.
During the inspection it was found that one approach road across a bifurcated channel of the Brahmaputra has resulted in the river’s rising water flowing over it.
This is posing a threat to the Dhubri- Patamari road cum embankment located just 5metres away from the river bank.
Meanwhile, the deputy Commissioner has directed to the authorities to take immediate measures to control the erosion in order to prevent the breach of the embankment.
