Sensation prevails at Dhakuwakhana in Lakhimpur district as a series of developments are taking place after the alleged attack on BJP workers by some members of Sanmilita Gana Sakti (SGS).

Tension has been simmering since Saturday as one youth was picked up by Dhakuwakhana police in the wee hours of Saturday in connection with the attack.

Padmalochan Doley, an agriculture entrepreneur and former leader of Takam Mising Porin Kebang (TMPK) was detained from his residence at Gogamukh on Saturday and was lodged at Dhakuwakhana police station for the entire day.

This led to a huge demonstration by his followers outside the police station throughout the day and Doley was later released in the evening.

Addressing a press meeting later in the evening at Gogamukh before a huge crowd, Padmalochan Doley attributed his detention as a politically motivated one accused the Dhakuwakhna MLA and Assam panchayat and rural development minister Naba Doley for it.

He further said the defeat of the present BJP MLA from Dhakuwakhana LAC was certain.

Some members of the Sanmilita Gana Sakti allegedly attacked members of the BJP during a party meeting at Luitporia High School booth in Kherkata Gaon Panchayat on Thursday.

Five persons were reportedly injured in the incident.

On Saturday, a massive protest march was taken out in Dhakuwakhana against the attack demanding arrest of the attackers.
