Assam DGP Bhaskarjyoti Mahanta said Assam Police is keeping a hawkeye vigil on the possible law and order situation that may arise from creating resistance during the implementation of the government programme n Dhalpur-Garukhuti riverine char areas in Darrang district.

The Assam government decided to implement an agriculture project in the Dhalpur-Garukhuti riverine char areas under Sipajhar revenue circle in Darrang district.

Director General of Police (DGP) Mahanta on Friday afternoon visited the Dhalpur area.

“The area is potentially very rich for agriculture, tourism and from archaeological point of view. It’s a very welcoming decision on the part of the Assam government to explore these potentialities. There they need our help in matters of security,” Mahanta said.

“The Assam Police is keeping a hawk-eye vigil on this issue so that the government project could be implemented properly and the dream of Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma comes true without any difficulties,” DGP, Mahanta said while talking to media.

He appealed to the people surrounding the area to extend all necessary cooperation to get the government project done.

He was accompanied by Brajenjit Sinha, DIG, Assam Police, Central Assam Zone and Darrang superintendent of police Sushanta Biswa Sarma among others.
