Hours after joining as the new Superintendent of Police of Darrang district, Sushanta Biswa Sarma has made his intentions clear against the anti-social elements particularly dealing with illegal drugs, cannabis and other narcotic substances.
Darrang SP Sushanta Biswa Sarma has launched operations in different pockets of the district. In one such operation on Wednesday night police team led by DSP (HQ), Mamoni Hazarika nabbed one drugs peddler namely Samad Ali (32) S/O . Suruj Ali of village Ondolajhar under Dhula Police Station.
A consignment of heroin in seven separate vials and a sizeable quantity of cannabis (ganja) have been recovered from the possession of the arrested person.

The accused has been booked under the provisions of the relevant NDPS act.
Later speaking to Northeast Now newly appointed Superintendent of Darrang Police, Sushanta Biswa Sarma hinted at more such crackdowns in days to come.
“I just want to send a strong message that it is just the beginning. More such operations will come in days to come along with the normal policing,” Darrang SP – Sushanta Biswa Sarma said.
