The Darrang Police has achieved another success in their anti-drug operations with the arrest of a drug peddler.

Acting on a tip-off, a police team on Friday night raided the house and campus of one Abdul Jabbar (32), son of late Gafa Sheikh in No 3 Baruajhar village under the Dalgaon police station of the district.

During the operation in the house, heroin weighing 17 gm was recovered.

In this connection, a case has been registered at the Dalgaon police station.

The case was registered under the provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985.

The accused was produced before the court on Saturday.

The court remanded the drug peddler to judicial custody, said Darrang superintendent of police Sushanta Biswa Sarma.

On August 13, 2021, the Darrang Police tweeted that, acting on a tip-off, conducted a raid at the house of one Rashid Ali of Duliapara village under Dalgaon police station and recovered 65 numbers of vials containing suspected brown sugar/heroin, weighing 40 gms.

On August 2, 2021, Darrang Police tweeted that following a tip-off, Dalgaon police station staff searched the house of one Azad Ali of Simaluguri under Dalgaon PS and recovered approximately 1.23 gms of suspected heroin from his possession.
