Serious allegations are rife that eight security personnel from Assam stationed in Delhi and suffering from COVID-19 have been denied treatment for quite a few days.

The jawans are not even admitted to hospital.

They belong to the 31 battalion of CRPF.

One of them, aged around 36 years, hails from Changsari in Kamrup district.

He was found COVID-19 positive on April 24 last.

However, he along with seven others infected by the deadly coronavirus are yet to get any treatment.

Allegations are rife that the Health department did not do follow up their cases even after they tested positive.

“We are yet to get any treatment. We are holed up at a police flat since we tested COVID-19 positive on April 24 last,” alleged the infected jawan.

Meanwhile, Chitralekha Kalita, wife of the CrPF jawan has appealed to chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal and health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma to bring the affected jawans to the state and start treatment urgently.

“I ardently request out chief minister and health minister to bring them back and start treatment. My husband called me and said they are not getting any treatment in Delhi,” appealed the jawan’s wife.

Notably, Ikram Hussain hailing from Barpeta from the same battalion died of COVID-19 on Tuesday in the national capital.

Hussain was in quarantine with these eight affected jawans since he also tested positive on April 24 last.
