One CRPF jawan of 68 Battalion allegedly committed suicide in Assam’s Tinsukia district at the RSS office on Monday morning.
The deceased jawan has been identified as Amit Kumar(27) of Bihar and he shot himself with his service gun.
Talking to the Northeast Now over the phone from Tinsukia, SP Siliditya Chetia said, “The jawan allegedly committed suicide by shooting himself with his service revolver.”
“He was on duty with other jawans but suddenly he went inside a bathroom at RSS office and gunshots were heard from inside,” Chetia added.
“We cannot ascertain as to why he committed suicide. Our investigation is in its preliminary stage and we are waiting for the post-mortem report,” he further said.
Chetia said the jawan was unmarried and maybe he was having some family issues.
