Assam Cricket Association (ACA) secretary Devajit Saikia, who was expected to be appointed as the joint secretary of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), said he has no intention of joining the organization.

Saikia on Monday revealed that he will continue to serve ACA for some time and will finish many uncompleted tasks in Assam.

He stated on Facebook, “Let me set the record clear…I have no intention to join BCCI now … will serve Assam cricket for some time to finish several uncompleted tasks in our State before expanding the horizon.”

The nine-member Apex Council of the BCCI will constitute of the president, vice-president, secretary, treasurer, joint secretary, a male and a female representative of the cricketers association, a representative from the IPL Governing Council and a representative from the central government.

It may be mentioned that former Indian cricket captain Saurav Ganguly was unanimously selected as a presidential candidate in a meeting by the representatives of the state units of BCCI.

Ganguly filed his nomination for the post of BCCI president in Mumbai on Monday.

Union home minister Amit Shah’s son Jay Shah is expected to become the BCCI secretary.
