Assam has registered 875 new COVID19 positive cases, taking the total to 1,69,985 while the death toll increased to 655 after the demise of 17 more patients in the last 24 hours.

A total of 1,670 more patients have been discharged from various hospitals or Covid care facilities across Assam after their recovery.

Assam health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma in a tweet on Sunday night said the new cases were detected out of 1,5347 tests.

“Alert ~ 875 #COVID cases detected today out of 15347 tests,” the health minister said.

Assam’s positivity rate stands at 5.70%.

of the new cases, Kamrup Metro has reported 214 new cases and Jorhat has reported 159 cases.

With the discharge of 1,670 more patients in the last 24 hours, the total number of patients discharged in Assam has increased to 1,39,977.

Assam currently has 29,350 active COVID19 patients.

“Discharge Alert. 1670 patients discharged today,” health minister Sarma tweeted on late Sunday.”

“Today, our discharged patients’ count is almost double to that of new patients added. Good job team doctors,” he added.

Assam has recorded 17 more COVID19 deaths in the last 24 hours.

“Very sad and anguished to inform that 17 more COVID positive patients have succumbed to the disease,” the Assam health minister tweeted on Sunday night.

The victims have been identified as Akharam Hague (55), Late Sibananda Sonowal (53), Prafulla Ch Dutta (65) of Dibrugarh; Probin Konwar (61), Deokan Das (65) of Sivasagar; Tayabulla Khan (62) of Tinsukia; Nilammani Bhagath (46) of Bongaigaon; Jagadlsh Bhattacharjya (60), Rajani Deka (57) of Kamrup Rural;

The other victims are Narendra Singh Goshain (51), Golap Saikia (47) of Kamrup Metro; Kanu Krishna Bordoloi (70), Punaram Saikia (68) of Golaghat; Aruna Baruch (70) of Jorhat; Luhirarn Bora (65) of Golaghat; Sanjib Kr Borah (63) of Lakhimpur and Mona Malakar (67) of Hojai.
