On the day when the total number of COVID19 positive cases in Assam stands at 8,955, a total of 275 other patients, who were earlier infected by the virus, have been discharged from various hospitals across the state on Thursday.

With the discharge of these patients, the total number of discharged COVID19 cases in Assam has risen to 6,106.

Sharing the good news, Assam health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on his Twitter handle on Thursday evening said:  “Discharge Alert. Glad to share that 275 patients have been discharged today from various civil, district & model hospitals in Assam.”

The health minister said Assam’s COVID19 recovery rate now stands at 68 per cent and the state currently has 2,832 active cases.

“Recovery rate – 68%. Total Discharged Patients – 6106. Active Patients – 2832,” Sarma said.

On Thursday, two more patients succumbed to COVID19 infection in Assam, taking the state’s death toll to 14.

In another tweet, Sarma said: “In view of the rising number of cases, and likely further escalation, we held a meeting with all private hospitals in Guwahati and instructed them to set up specialised facility and dedicated teams for #COVID19 management.”

“We are in tough times and all must contribute their bit,” he added.
