COVID19 positive

Dibrugarh has seen a rapid jump in COVID19 positive cases in the last few days and the district has registered more than 2,000 positive cases till Monday.

In order to contain the spread of COVID19 and detect the positive cases in the district, the Dibrugarh district administration recently started conducting rapid Antigen test.

The district administration started the drive on July 28 and the second drive was started on Monday.

The drive to conduct rapid Antigen test is being carried out to detect the COVID19 positive cases in a quick way.

More than 30 screening and counseling centres have been set up in Dibrugarh to conduct such test.

Many positive cases have been detected in the district after the rapid antigen tests.

Assam Medical College Hospital (AMCH) principal Hiranya Kumar Goswami tested positive for COVID19 on Saturday.

The AMCH principal is currently under home quarantine.

Many doctors and nurses at AMCH have also tested COVID19 positive.

Meanwhile, a 300-bedded Covid Care Centre at Khanikor in Dibrugarh will soon be opened for treating COVID19 patients.

“A total of 340 positive cases have been detected in Dibrugarh on Monday. Positive cases are rising on daily basis. In many areas, people were seen walking without masks, which is dangerous in this situation. We appeal to everyone to wear masks before coming out of their homes,” said a health official.
