Assam Director General of Police, GP Singh

Guwahati: Assam Director General of Police, GP Singh on Sunday said that Sunil Gogoi, the contractor who went missing in connection with the Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) in Dhakuakhana, has escaped to another state and is currently in hiding.

The Crime Investigation Department (CID) has tracked his movements to various locations, and efforts are underway to apprehend him.

Speaking to the media in Guwahati, GP Singh revealed that Gogoi frequently changes his mobile number, making it challenging to pinpoint his exact location.

Despite this, the CID has gathered sufficient information about his whereabouts.

Earlier, the Inspector General of Police, CID Assam, Sanjukta Parashar, assured Pushpa Gogoi, Sunil’s wife, that her husband is alive.

The Lakhimpur police have intensified their search for Gogoi, who is the prime suspect in the June murder case of Jahangir Hussain in Dhakuakhana.

A reward has been announced for any information leading to his capture.

The police are working tirelessly to bring Gogoi to justice, and his arrest is expected soon.
