The Bodo People’s Front (BPF) has formally joined the Assam Congress-led Grand Alliance in Guwahati on Sunday.
On Saturday, BPF Chief Hagrama Mohilary had announced the party’s decision of snapping ties with the BJP and joining Grand Alliance.
Hagrama Mohilary launched an all-out attack on Assam Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma during the alliance joining ceremony.
Hagrama Mohilary accused Himanta Biswa Sarma of “resorting to horse-trading following announcement of the results of the 2020 BTC elections”.
“We don’t want to form the Government adopting the methods of Himanta Biswa Sarma,” said Hagrama Mohilary.

Hagrama Mohilary further exuded confidence of securing a complete majority by the Grand Alliance and form the next Government in Assam.
“I am confident that we can secure simple majority,” Hagrama Mohilary said.
Hagrama Mohilary further said that there’s “no need” for the Grand Alliance to win over 100 seats.
“What’s the use of winning 100 seats, when one can form a Government by winning only 64 seats. Winning 70 seats would be more than enough,” said BPF Chief Hagrama Mohilary.
With the joining of BPF, the number of Grand Alliance constituents has risen to 7.
