The Congress in Assam has launched yet another scathing on Prime Minister Narendra Modi over his speech in Dhekiajuli.

Criticising PM Narendra Modi’s speech at Dhekiajuli in Assam, Congress MP from Koliabor Gaurav Gogoi said that the Prime Minister’s speech did not mention the burning issues of the State.

PM Narendra Modi was in Dhekiajuli, Assam on Sunday where he launched several key projects for the State.

The Congress has also released a point-by-point counter of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s speech.

CONGRESS’ COUNTERS:

1.PM Modi: Supporting the efforts of Assam Government, we have allotted Rs 1000 crore for workers in tea plantations. This fund will help facilities that you receive and ease the lives of our tea workers.

Congress’ Counter: The tea tribes had 2 demands: increasing wage to 351 and ST status, Modi has promised them these but should answer if these Rs 1000 crore will be used to increase their wages.

2. PM Modi: We will start a new medical college and technical college in Assamese language in Assam soon. Work is also rapidly progressing on AIIMS in Guwahati. The first batch has already started this year at AIIMS in Guwahati.

Congress’ Counter: As soon as Modi came to power, Jorhat Medical College and Fakharuddin Ali Ahmed Medical College were derecognised and careers of more than 2,000 youth of Assam were jeopordised.

Tarun Gogoi has laid foundation stone and revamped AMC in Dibrugarh, GMC in Guwahati, JMC in Jorhat, F Ali Ahmed Medical College in Barpeta, Tezpur Medical College in Tezpur.

3.PM Modi: Assam will have a wide network of roads connecting all villages to cities and cities to other parts of India under Assam Mela Project.

Congress’ Counter: Firstly, the Sagar Mala project was announced 4 years ago and not even 1/5th of the project’s work is complete so far. How can we believe that Assam Mala will be any different?

Secondly, Jorhat-Majuli bridge was announced in 2016 and is still incomplete.

Thirdly, dredging 891 km of Brahmapurta was announced in 2017 and work hasn’t even started.

Fourthly, Brahmaputra Express Highway was announced in 2017. Work started but and not even 10% of work has been completed.

4.PM Modi: We must answer everyone who has decided to ruin the image of our tea and everyone who supports such conspiracies. India will not let these conspiracies win!

Congress’ Counter: This tea community, which have been fighting for their basic rights and daily wages are now being called conspirators.

Not only they want to bring in foreigners into Assam by implementing CAA, but we are now also being seen as conspirators and anti-nationals.

Very soon, entire Assam will be called the same by Modi.

5.PM Modi: Make Assam corruption free.

Congress’ Counter: Corruption during past four years of BJP rule in Assam:

i.PNRD recruitment scam for 145 posts.

ii. Assam fishery development corporation scam of Rs 300 crore.

iii. Coal mining scams in Barak Valley and Margherita.

iv. PMKISAN scam.

v. Scam tuning to Rs 500 crores in disbursement of scholarships to students from minority communities.

vi. SI recruitment Scam where several Government officials have been arrested

The Congress further slammed Sarbananda Sonowal-led Assam Government for failing to build even a single new stadium or sports venue.

“Sarusajai Sports Complex was a great work by the previous Congress Government,” the Congress said.
