Assam CM , The prime accused in the case related to forging of signature of Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has been arrested by the police.

Assam CM, The arrested person has been identified as Imran Sha Coudhury. He has been arrested by a team of Guwahati police in New Delhi.

“Imran Sha Coudhury, kingpin of the crime, claimed that it was very easy for him to get them (four other persons) a contract in the PHE dept through the CMO directly, but he would take 3% as commission,” the Assam Police said in a statement.

“Imran Sha Choudhury gave them the forged papers, which they finally submitted to the chief engineer, PHE dept,” the Assam Police added.

An investigation into the case began after an FIR was lodged by the CMO stating that “a note had been given to the chief engineer (PHE) Water, Assam for work to be allotted in the name of Lohit Construction, with forged signature of Hon’ble CM”.

Notably, Imran Sha Choudhury had created the forged document with the help of three persons – Dilip Das, Anupam Choudhury and Prakash Basumatary.

“They scanned an actual signature of Hon’ble CM to create the forged document in the shop of one Naba Roy,” the Assam Police said.

Notably, Imran Sha was arrested by a team of Guwahati police from New Delhi and “is in the process of being brought to Guwahati”.

While, all the accused in the case have been arrested, two are still on the run.

“Two accused persons Anupam Choudhury and Prakash Basumatary are absconding. Searches are on,” the Assam police further said.
