In order to promote river tourism in Assam, Assam chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal inaugurated river cruise Brahmaputra’r Mukuta at the bank of the Brahmaputra near Bogibeel bridge in Dibrugarh on Thursday.

The cruise built in one-and-half-years is an ABCD Exploration Company project with the initiative of two local youths, Dhiraj Bikas Gogoi and Uday Shankar Mohan.

The two-story luxurious cruise has been designed with the facilities like AC rooms with Gyser and attached bathroom/toilets, conference hall, kitchen and dining hall.

Tourists can enjoy the scenic beauty throughout the journey up to the places like Majuli, Kaziranga, Tezpur and Guwahati.

“We have not finalised yet the itinerary and tariff of the journey package, but it is expected that it will be an 11-day package for a trip to Guwahati,” said Dhiraj Bikas Gogoi, one of the directors of the company.

“We will share the details as soon as it is finalized,” Gogoi informed.

Sonowal tweeted: “We are giving special attention towards promoting river tourism in #Assam.”

“Glad to inaugurate a luxurious river cruise vessel ‘Brahmaputra’r Mukuta’ built by ABCD Exploration Co. in Dibrugarh. This initiative by youths will give a new direction to our tourism sector,” he added.
